Amaala and WSP highlight need to empower Saudi women

RIYADH, June 23, 2021

Amaala, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s ultra-luxury tourism destination, alongside leading consultancy, WSP Middle East, is flying the flag for greater female representation in the engineering sphere this International Women in Engineering Day (INWED).

Collaborating for an exclusive podcast episode titled ‘Engineering role models for a more diverse future’, Amaala and WSP Middle East reflect on the progress being made to create more diverse and inclusive working environments for KSA youth in engineering fields, whilst promoting the influential role that mentors can play in inspiring the youth of today to become the Kingdom’s future changemakers to drive economic transformation.

Hosted by Shona Wood, Head of Integrated Project Delivery and Architecture at WSP in the Middle East, the episode features Amaala’s Development Specialist, Razan Alraddadi alongside WSP Middle East’s Graduate Consultant, Ruaa Mahmoud.

Ahmed Darwish, Chief Administrative Officer at Amaala, said: “Vision 2030 has provided a laser focus on the future of our young people, and at Amaala we set out from the beginning to embrace and nurture talent from across the kingdom. We want Amaala to be a platform that creates a legacy for future generations providing opportunities for fresh graduates and young people to gain experience and a career across all sectors. Spotlighting women in engineering is a globally important topic and one that we support wholeheartedly to encourage more women to be inspired by science and technology and see a future from STEM education.”

Wood, Gender Balance Steering Committee Representative and Head of Integrated Project Delivery and Architecture at WSP in the Middle East said: “We are witnessing a transformational shift in our industry as more and more females discover the rewards of pursuing a career in engineering. However, we all have a part to play in nurturing the development and pathways of future engineers; the key to this will be ensuring all industry professionals – both male and female – unite to empower our female youth by being bold allies and ensuring their voices are heard as they navigate the road to a more diverse future.”

WSP’s Anticipate Podcast is an insights series that explores unique perspectives to future trends and existing challenges by engaging experts and thought leaders from across the engineering and construction industry. -- TradeArabia News Service
