URB, a leading developer of sustainable cities headquartered in Dubai Design District, and the mastermind behind designs of projects such as The Sustainable City Yiti in Oman, has announced a global hunt for the next generation of sustainable design innovators in urban planning, landscape design and architecture for its ambitious Nexgen project in Cairo.

 

Spread over a sprawling 5.8 million sq m area, the smart self-sufficient city has been designed to provide food, energy and water security whilst also creating a green economy and promoting ecotourism. It will boast 9,000 housing units and cater to a population of 35,000 residents.

 

According to URB, ecotourism, medical tourism, retail, edutainment and leisure facilities will transform the city into a unique destination for visitors. On completion, Nexgen will become the first net zero city in the world. 

 

URB founder Baharash Bagherian is seeking the best talents in the industry to shape the future together in developing the next generation of sustainable cities. 

 

Founded on a mission to accelerate the world's transition towards sustainable development, URB is rapidly growing in line with plans to open further offices in the MENA region this year, he stated.

 

On the global hunt, Bagherian said: "Our innovative approach to projects is disrupting the status quo of real estate development, creating more value by enhancing the quality of lifestyle whilst being climate positive. As a first step, URB is set to open a second office outside the UAE by year end whilst increasing its workforce in its Dubai headquarters.
