MANAMA, April 25, 2023

City Centre Bahrain won the Gold Certificate from the World Disability Union, while its recognition as a Health Promoter Mall came from the Ministry of Health, said Majid Al Futtaim in its statement.

In additiion to all this, it also secured an ISO 45001:2018 certification for management and operational services, it added.

The regional mall pioneer said City Centre Bahrain's wide recognition was a testament to its dedication to adapting to industry guidelines and setting new benchmarks for creating healthy and safe environments for its customers and visitors.

The retail and lifestyle hub offers 50 designated parking spaces for People of Determination in its Car Park building, in addition to 8 free wheelchair cabinets near all mall gates for easy access.

The mall has also placed a wheelchair ramp at all entrances, cinemas, and restaurants and also provides 38 accessible toilets on all floors, and features handicap panels in all its elevators.

The kingdom's leading retail destination is also known for its accessibility and world-class shopping experience, thus ensuring a positive experience for all mall visitors, it added.

On the certification win, Duaij Al Rumaihi, Mall Director, said: "This is a proud moment for us as we receive three prestigious certifications that demonstrate our commitment to the local community, ensuring their well-being with world-class retail experiences."

"It also reaffirms our responsibility to manage mall operations at the highest operational and safety standards, not only for visitors but also for our employees. To make shopping even more enjoyable, City Centre Bahrain also offers rental electric wheelchairs. And in case of emergency, the mall provides evacuation wheelchairs. All this is to ensure the mall is equipped to handle the immediate response to health emergencies while catering to the needs of all its mall visitors, it stated.

As part of its endeavour to be a Health Promoting Mall, City Centre Bahrain said it has taken several measures to encourage a healthy lifestyle among its visitors.

"This includes the opening of the mall an hour before its official working hours for visitors to enjoy working around the mall, participating in community-focused health programmes, introducing healthy dining options in adherence to food and safety requirements, and restricting consumption of smoking and all forms of tobacco inside the mall,"
