Mapa secures EPC contract for Juranah reservoir project Phase I

Mapa Group, a Turkish conglomerate specialising in the construction, hospitality and renewable energy sectors, said it has secured a major contract from a consortium led by Saudi-based Vision International Investment Company for the first phase of Juranah Independent Strategic Water Reservoir Project (ISWR-1).
Located in the city of Makkah, Juranah ISWR-1 is a first of its kind project in the kingdom to be developed under a BOOT (Build, Own, Operate, Transfer) model, thus reflecting active private sector involvement in essential water infrastructure development.
Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) had awarded the contract to Vision International consortium comprising Kuwait-based Gulf Investment Corporation and Abu Dhabi energy group Taqa as partners.
As per the deal inked with the Vision International consortium, Mapa will provide engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for the first phase of Juranah water reservoir project in Makkah city which boasts a strategic reservoir capacity of 2 million cu m and an operational reservoir capacity of 500,000 cu m.
The scope of work also includes laying of a 3.5-km-long twin pipeline as well as construction of a pump station for the purpose of filling the reservoirs.
The Juranah plant, which is set for commercial operations in Q1 2027, will boast a total 2.5 million cu m capacity that will cater to the drinking water needs of Makkah city.-TradeArabia News Service
