nogaholding kicks off internship programme for Bahrain students

Bahrain's Oil and Gas Holding Company (nogaholding) and its operating companies have kicked off the summer internship program, Empower.
The programme, which will run untill August, has been designed to provide university students with hands-on working experience.
Empower will enable around 200 undergraduates to experience real work situations at nogaholding and some of the major companies within its portfolio, including, Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco), Bahrain Aviation Fuelling Company (Bafco), Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard Company (Asry), Tatweer Petroleum, Bahrain National Gas Company (Banagas) and Gulf Petrochemicals Industries Company (GPIC).
The programme focuses on equipping a new generation of workers with the necessary knowledge to not only participate, but lead through innovation in the oil and gas industry, said the statement from nogaholding.
The participants will be assigned to different functions within each company in line with their chosen university major while serving to complete their graduation requirements, it stated.
On the new programme, Group CEO Mark Thomas said: "nogaholding aims to inspire the next generation of youth in the kingdom. As one of the most important assets to the kingdom, students play an integral role in shaping the future of the industry, and our goal is to provide them with challenging opportunities to test and ultimately enhance their skills."
