BAB to support CBB's efforts to create new jobs in banking
MANAMA, August 14, 2022
The Bahrain Association of Banks (BAB) has reaffirmed its support for the Central Bank of Bahrain's (CBB) initiatives to develop new employment opportunities in the areas of open banking, digital banking and financial transfers.
The goal is to give Bahraini cadres the chance to fill positions that will shape the future development of the banking sector in Bahrain and the world.
According to Dr Waheed Al-Qassim, CEO of BAB, the CBB initiatives are essential because they effectively contribute to the development of the banking sector in Bahrain and ensure that this development is carried out by national cadres capable of protecting the sector's gains and ensuring its progress sustainably.
New trends
"The banking sector is increasingly more receptive to new trends, such as information technology. This implies that young Bahrainis who are adept at carrying out these new trends can assist in the growth of other industries in Bahrain by linking them together in an integrated way within the framework of national plans," Dr Al-Qassim said.
"BAB is an integral part of this national effort, supporting and working to implement them, within the framework of our work is the implementation of the strategy for the development of the financial services sector 2022–2026, which will strengthen the position of the banking sector at the forefront of national sectors with the ability to provide quality job opportunities for citizens, contribute to the GDP, and support various sectors of the national economy," said Dr Al-Qassim.
Dr Al-Qassim said BAB constantly collaborates with academic institutions and specialised training facilities to create curriculum and make sure Bahraini graduates are adequately trained to enter the financial and banking labour market. He noted that the association and the Council of Higher Education recently met to discuss ways to enhance the university curriculum for students who specialise in the sciences of the banking and financial business.
Training programmes
"With the help of CBB and in collaboration with its members from banks and financial institutions, BAB has announced a specialised training programme. This programme intends to give recent bachelor's graduates practical training in a variety of financial and banking disciplines over six months to help them acquire practical skills," Dr Al-Qassim concluded.-- TradeArabia News Service
