UWR makes UAE proud at NASA Space Apps Challenge

DUBAI, December 8, 2022

Unique World Robotics (UWR), a Dubai-based robotics training institute, has shown its dominance in International Competition/Hackathon Training again, winning the NASA International Space Apps Challenge.

From a single team back in 2021, it trained a total of 11 teams (8 from UAE & 3 from India) from UAE & India in 2022 and won 7 awards including 5 Global Nominations (4 from UAE & 1 from India). One of their winning teams from Sharjah has been chosen as the Global Finalist, the only team from UAE that managed to reach the Finals.

From India, the student team from its first Robotics Lab through students helping students initiative has won ‘Global Nomination’ from Kerala becoming the only school team to get recognised in 2022.

Extensive research
The students did extensive research on the challenges and data provided by NASA with the mentorship from our trainers. They were also provided with the opportunity to interview space scientists, astro physicists and field experts to clarify their queries. The UWR trainers were very keen to observe each and every moment of their journey to guide them properly to focus on the challenge, to make sure the journey is memorable, inspiring and successful.

The Global Finalist team will be reviewed by an executive committee from NASA and partner space agencies. These judges are leaders and executives at the agencies with a variety of subject matter expertise. Each Global Finalist project will be evaluated by each executive judge. This committee will nominate teams for one of 10 Global Awards. The winning submission for each of the categories above will be known as the “Global Winners.” Global Winners will be announced via Space Apps social media and appear on the Space Apps website.

NASA International Space Apps Challenge which began a decade ago in 2012, has now become the largest annual space & science global hackathon in the world. The major motive of the competition is to raise awareness of NASA data around the world and to encourage growth and diversity in the next generation of scientists, technologists, designers, engineers, and artists.

Make Space
This year’s edition of the NASA International Space Apps Challenge was named “Make Space!". Space Apps, strive to eliminate barriers of access to space and science opportunities. It is for anyone and everyone! Participants from around the world are welcomed regardless of background and experience to create, explore, learn, and build together. Through each year’s Space Apps Challenge, NASA continues to support and empower ideas through innovation and inclusion.

Unique World Robotics as the name suggests has proven that they are the pioneers in the domain of Robotics, AI and coding training and has a clear edge in Competition training domain. The well-trained students and their mentors from UWR always have made the country proud in all International Competitions in the year 2022.

Bansan Thomas George, Founder and CEO of Unique World Robotics, said: “We had created a 60-hour curriculum, providing them a holistic learning experience to help them create innovative solutions".

He further added: “Space Apps 2022 had 31,400+ registered participants from 162 countries and territories, tackling 22 challenges making it world’s largest annual hackathon event in space & science; which makes the wins a humongous achievement.”-- TradeArabia News Service
