SKMC launches special healthcare facilities

Abu Dhabi, August 25, 2014

Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC), owned and operated by Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (Seha) has launched an emergency room and a speciality clinic and has arranged urgent care visits for the first half of the year, a report said.

The hospital recorded 34,838 visits to the Emergency Department (ED), while the Khalidiya Urgent Care Centre and the paediatric ED logged 24,235 and 19,565 visits, respectively, added the report in Wam, the Emirates’ official news agency.

Outpatient speciality clinics saw 121, 819 visits from January to June, while admissions topped 9,250 during the period.

The hospital is already expecting to exceed 2013’s recorded visits, Dr Aref Al Shehhi, the hospital’s deputy CEO, was quoted as saying in the report.

"Our unique ‘physician-led’ approach to healthcare to the local community has continued to elevate patient care levels, and we see this in the number of patients confidently choosing SKMC as it continues to build upon its reputation as one of the best healthcare providers in the country," he added.

"With the population growing rapidly, and UAE residents becoming much more aware and educated on their healthcare needs, we will continue to see a growth in the demand for health services – a challenge we are determined to meet.”
