UAE patient registry market to grow 14pc

BURNABY, Canada, June 23, 2015

The patient registry market in the UAE is set to grow 14 per cent by 2020, owing to rising healthcare expenditures and growing incidence of diseases, according to a recent report.

The TechSci Research report ‘UAE Patient RegistryMarket Forecast & Opportunities, 2020,’ pointed out that though the country's patient registry market is currently in its nascent stage, the market would be driven by implementation of government initiatives aimed at improving population health management, rising pressure to improve quality of care and minimising healthcare costs and increasing adoption of EHRs.

The increasing government focus to improve quality of healthcare services in the country and boost medical tourism is expected to contribute to the growing demand for patient registry software in the country, it said.

The patient registry allows timely and effective medical care by allowing physician and staff in analysing patient's history of health, diagnosis and treatment records.

Patient registry market in the UAE has been divided into diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular and chronic registries.

The diabetic patient registries accounted for a majority revenue share last year due to the rising incidences of diabetes.

The patient registry finds applications across hospitals, government organisations, private practitioners and pharmaceutical companies.

The government organisations and hospitals are forecast to account for a lion's share in the UAE patient registry market through 2020.

Additionally, growing use of patient registry software in research institutes and pharmaceutical labs enables the study of impact of a particular drug or treatment procedure on patient health.

Karan Chechi, research director with TechSci Research, a research-based global management consulting firm, said: "UAE patient registry market is projected to grow owing to its increasing government focus on improving healthcare facilities and transparency in services.

“The use of patient registry software for accessing patient's historic health records such as lab reports, radiology and pathology and physical examination results not only ensures effective medical care and treatment to patients, but also reduces healthcare costs.

“Additionally, development and subsequent implementation of integrated patient registry software solutions is projected to revolutionise patient registry market in the country in the coming years." - TradeArabia News Service
