Sickle cell deaths in Bahrain spark outrage against medics

MANAMA, November 12, 2015

Two more sickle cell disease patients have died from complications associated with the condition, prompting campaigners to accuse medics of failing to follow basic treatment protocols. Mahmood Mohammed Al Mahdi, 38, from A’ali, and Sameera Mohammed Ali, from Al Dair, both died early yesterday (November 11) at Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC), said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.
