The British Urology Day Surgical Centre has launched a national free screening program that aims at highlighting the importance of early detection of prostate cancer amongst citizens 50 years of age and above in the UAE.

With an underlying aim of detecting prostate cancer at an early stage, the campaign reflects the Emirates Urological Society’s primary mandate to support the promotion of healthcare awareness, foster high standards of care in urological medicine by facilitating access to the latest innovations and quality scientific and medical education to the public.

Dr Abdul Qader Al Zarouni, president of the Emirates Urological Society said: “We are pleased that the local healthcare organisations are contributing directly to spreading awareness across the community around prevention and early detection of prostate cancer, a major public health challenge. This campaign is focused on decreasing the number of individuals suffering from prostate cancer, and aims to reduce mortality rates in Dubai, and the wider UAE.”

Dr Nabil Mitri, president and founder of The British Urology Day Surgical Centre said: “Through this campaign, we are focused on conducting free screening sessions for citizens from all over the UAE during the next month and look forward to welcoming everyone in our centre located in Dubai’s Al Wasl Road.”

“We are committed to having a strong responsibility to the local social fabric, and achieving a strong difference in the community, especially when it comes to driving an impact on people’s health,” added Dr Mitri.

The British Urology Day Surgical Centre was inaugurated earlier last month by Humaid Mohammed Al Qatami, director general of Dubai Health Authority, and was attended by Dr Marwan Al Mulla, head of Medical Licensing at DHA.

The centre is equipped with the latest technology and offers a range of high-quality services in specialties including but not limited to urology and gynaecology, such as treatment of urinary stones with laser and shockwave procedures; male infertility including IVF referrals; male health including; hormonal replacement sexual dysfunction – including oral, injection ,shockwave, penil implant and stem cells; treatment of tumours and congenital anomalies; surgery of circumcision, varicocele and hydrocele, laser haemorrhoids and other services. – TradeArabia News Service
