New curbs in Bahrain after new Covid strain found

Bahrain's National Team for Combating the Coronavirus has announced the discovery of the mutated virus in a number of cases in the kingdom.
 
The team said due to the developments and data that are studied periodically, and based on the recommendations of the National Medical Team, it has been that starting from Sunday (January 31) for a period of three weeks to suspend attendance in public and private schools, governmental and private higher education institutions and kindergartens, a Bahrain News Agency report said.
 
It has also been decided to stop providing indoor services in restaurants and cafes, starting from January 31 for a period of three weeks.
 
Members of the administrative, educational and technical bodies in all institutions covered by the decisions are exempt from decisions to suspend attendance
 
The new strain was discovered through the continuous monitoring and analysis process and following up on existing cases, the team said at a press conference.
 
It called on everyone to fully adhere to the precautionary measures and instructions issued by the national medical team and official authorities to contain the virus.
 
Lieutenant General Tariq bin Hassan Al-Hassan, Head of Public Security and Chairman of the National Committee for Disaster Response, confirmed the continuation of efforts to confront the Coronavirus pandemic, and intensify them during the coming period.
 
Al-Hassan stressed the need to avoid crowds in general and the need to cooperate with security men in adherence to public order and observance of the required social distancing standards.
 
Ministry of Health Undersecretary Dr Walid Al-Manea noted that the frequency of testing and the strengthening of contact tracing processes will be increased.
 
Al-Manea urged everyone to stay at home and not go out except for necessity, and not to hold gatherings in homes and outside the framework of the same family or the immediate social environment. The elderly and people with chronic diseases should not be contacted even inside the same home to avoid the possibility of transmitting infection to them in order to preserve their safety. - TradeArabia News Service
