EHS strategy to enhance competitiveness of health services

Emirates Health Services’ (EHS) strategy aims to enhance the competitiveness of the health services sector and assume the top rank on global performance indicators.
 
EHS is working to establish an ecosystem of health services and a pioneering digital health infrastructure that enhances quality of life in the UAE.
 
In its first meeting of 2022, the Board of Directors at Emirates Health Services (EHS) approved its strategic plan and tactics to implement them, in line with its objectives to establish an integrated and sustainable health services ecosystem that meets the highest international standards and positions the UAE as a leader in the sector.
 
Held at the EHS headquarters in Dubai, the meeting was attended by Dr Mohammed Salim Al Olama, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health and Prevention, Chairman of the EHS Board of Directors, and Dr Yousif Mohammed Al-Serkal, EHS’ Director-General, along with the members of the Board.
 
The Board looked back over the results and latest developments with regards to the decisions and recommendations it had issued in meetings held over the course of the past year, which were designed to develop EHS’ activities and update its executive and financial regulations.
 
Dr Al Olama asserted that the current situation the world is going through calls for mobilising efforts and updating strategies to align with the vision of our wise leadership for the next five decades, which aims to develop the health sector, ensure its sustainability, and develop a world-leading, innovation-driven health service system to be an integral part of the wider digital health infrastructure, designed to enhance quality of life in the UAE.
 
Al Olama applauded the EHS teams for the role they play, their outstanding management of health services, and the innovative visions and action plans they came forward with to upgrade the health services system and provide world-class health services to customers.
 
For his part, Dr Al-Serkal said: “EHS is kicking off the new year with optimism, while also looking back at the achievements we have made during what has been a truly exceptional period of the world’s history. The Covid-19 pandemic brought enormous challenges for the health sector, and with that in mind, EHS is working to develop renewable frameworks that build on the success the UAE health system registered in dealing with the pandemic, and align with the country’s post-pandemic national vision.”
 
“Our strategy at EHS seeks to promote sustainability in the health sector and build strong partnerships with all relevant health authorities at the national level, cementing the UAE’s status as a leader in health services, boosting its competitiveness, and propelling the country to the top of global performance indicators,” Dr Al-Serkal added.
 
The meeting discussed EHS’ strategic goals for 2022, namely, promoting healthy lifestyles and enhancing quality of life for all segments of the community; developing public, preventive, and mental health programmes; and developing holistic and integrated advanced treatment services in accordance with global digital practices. 
 
It also discussed the importance of building strategic partnerships with leading regional and international health authorities to develop capacities, enhance service quality, and boost global competitiveness.
 
The EHS Board of Directors also discussed tactics to implement community health programmes and services, in line with the UAE’s health strategies, and explored plans to enhance the human capital by enlisting and empowering qualified, talented individuals with extensive expertise. The Board debated the situation surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic in the Northern Emirates, before moving on to look into how best to provide services, build an effective digital infrastructure, and promote innovation.
