Saudi Health and Saudi Post SPL announced on Wednesday that that they have succeeded in carrying out trials to transport blood units using drones.

 

The trials were done during the Hajj season in July.

 

These trips have shortened the transportation time for blood units from two and a half hours to two minutes while adhering to strict health requirements, a statement said. 

 

This success will allow to implement the procedure in the upcoming Hajj seasons to ensure rapid and safe access of blood for critical cases, it said. 

 

The initiative came as a collaboration between Saudi Health’s Creative Center and Station25 Center in SPL. These units were launched to facilitate innovation within both organisations, said the statement. - TradeArabia News Service
