Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), one of the largest smelters in the world, has marked the kingdom’s 52nd National Day and 24th Anniversary of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s accession to the throne with a plant-wide celebration today (December 14).

 

At plus-1.6 million metric tonnes per annum (mtpa) (2022), Alba is one of the largest smelters in the world with more than 50 years of excellence in Operations, Safety, Environment and Socio-Economic Development. 

 

A blue-chip asset of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Alba produces high-quality aluminium products in the form of standard and value-added products (VAPs), which are exported to more than 240 global customers through its sales offices in Europe (Zurich), Asia (Singapore) and subsidiary office in the US.

 

As the first aluminium smelter in the Middle East, Alba sits at the heart of a thriving aluminium downstream sector in Bahrain, which accounts for approximately 12% of the Kingdom's GDP. 

 

The company has been instrumental in ensuring the employment of Bahrain nationals (85% in 2022) as well as the enhancement of their capabilities through education, training, and development initiatives at every stage of their career.

 

To mark the occasion, all departments within Alba were decorated with red and white colours, lights and the Bahrain Flag. 

 

A celebratory gathering was held at the Oasis Hall, which was attended by Alba Executives, Directors, Managers and employees, and featured many fun activities including a photo booth, an interactive quiz with prizes, traditional food stalls and a section for productive families.-TradeArabia News Service
