Egypt’s exports to G7 countries hits $3.8bn in H1

Egypt’s exports to the G7 group of countries grew by 8.6 per cent year-on-year to $3.8 billion during the first six months of 2019, according to data released by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (Capmas).
The US came top on the list with $1 billion imports from Egypt in H1-2019, while Egyptian exports to Italy and the UK recorded $951.7 million and $719.1 million, respectively, during the same period, added the Mubasher report.
Meanwhile, Egypt’s imports from the G7 countries went up by 2 per cent to $8.7 billion from January 2019 to the end of June, compared to $8.5 billion a year earlier, it said.
The US-led G7 exporters to Egypt in H1-19, with total exports of $2.7 billion, followed by Germany and Italy, which exported $2.1 billion and $1.5 billion worth of goods to Egypt in the first half of 2019.
As per Capmas’ data, trade exchange between Egypt and the G7 registered $12.4 billion in H1-19, up 4 per cent year-on-year from the year before.
The G7 countries’ investment in Egypt recorded $3.8 billion in the six-month period ended June 30, in comparison with $3.6 billion in H1-18, added the report.
