RIYADH, February 16, 2021
A leading international company has reached an agreement with the Saudi government for boosting investment in the port of Jazan City for basic and downstream industries and also take over its operation, reported Arab News.
Jazan Governor Prince Mohammed bin Nasser bin Abdul Aziz signed an agreement in the
presence of Saudi Minister of Industries and Mineral Resources Bander Alkhorayef.
The port includes a container terminal, general cargo, and dry bulk terminals equipped with the latest handling equipment. The first phase of the port’s commercial operations will begin in 2021.
Highlighting the importance of the agreement, Prince Mohammed said the port is located on one of the most important maritime transport corridors with proximity to the countries of the Horn of Africa and other emerging markets.
The development of this port will bolster the kingdom’s role as a global logistics hub, he added.
