Swiss Ambassador briefed on latest lab technologies at Unilab, Abu Dhabi

HE Massimo Baggi, Ambassador of Switzerland to the UAE and Bahrain, recently visited the Swiss diagnostic service provider Unilabs’ branch in Abu Dhabi, where he was received by Mohammed Daoud, CEO, Unilabs Middle East, and Fernando De Gorgolas - General Manager of International Business Unilabs.
During the visit, Ambassador Baggi was briefed on the latest digital, laboratory and medical technologies that Unilabs offers in addition to its advanced capabilities that make its top-notch lab tests unique, in accordance with international best practices.

The CEO of Unilabs Middle East welcomed the visit of the Swiss Ambassador, lauding his ongoing efforts to strengthen the cultural, economic and social relations between Switzerland and the UAE, which resulted in supporting their conducive business environment for companies. He emphasized that Unilabs is striving to convey a positive image of the efficiency of Swiss laboratory services.
Daoud also introduced the guest to the diagnostic capabilities and high operational capacity of Unilabs in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, highlighting their advanced resources in conducting reliable PCR tests through an integrated electronic system.
He made it clear that Unilabs techniques contribute to accelerate the results of Covid-19 tests, which will help limit its spread of the pandemic in the UAE. “Our lab techniques are also supporting the high production capacity of the laboratory system in the UAE, and the upward trend in the number of lab tests targeted by the UAE as part of its commitment to protecting the health of society,”.

He revealed that Unilabs has recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to integrate Unilabs Covid-19 test into the IATA electronic document for travellers, making it one of the first global laboratory networks to be incorporated into that electronic document.
“Unilabs network has also obtained an ISO certification from the Emirates International Accreditation Centre (EIAC), becoming the first private lab institution to be awarded such a global accreditation in the UAE,” the CEO of Unilabs Middle East added.
“Furthermore, our network has provided new and innovative technologies to improve, accelerate and expand the scope of testing in the UAE,” Daoud further said, adding that the company has a new technology to automate routine laboratory analysis to help simplify solutions and reduce the risk of human error.
“And to reduce the health risks that may face patients and employees, Unilabs has also established more than 200 Covid-19 test units, drive-thru and walk throw, in addition to some Covid-19 tests being conducted at the nearly 1,000 collection centres.—TradeArabia News Service
