Hitachi ABB Power Grids introduces next level of TXpert

DUBAI, August 4, 2021

Hitachi ABB Power Grids is taking the next step towards digitalisation with the development of a new range of TXpert Remote Services for transformer fleets.

The range includes remote monitoring, consulting, troubleshooting, and guidance using augmented reality.

Data collection is straightforward but making effective use of that data is the real challenge. Working together remotely, Hitachi ABB Power Grids supports customers in analysing large amounts of data and creating comprehensive reports that include the next steps required for optimal maintenance.

“Digitalisation and the amount of collected data can be overwhelming. We help our customers turn data into insights and make better decisions,” said Helmut Bockshammer, Global Head of Transformer Components and Service business. “With our new TXpert Remote Services, we offer the most comprehensive transformer service portfolio, combining innovative digital services with our traditional offering. During the pandemic, we had reduced access to sites. That made customers all the more appreciative of having remote access to our expertise and demonstrated the value of augmented reality in enhancing diagnostic and troubleshooting support.”

The range of TXpert Remote Services makes full use of the open and scalable TXpert Ecosystem of sensing and monitoring solutions to gather real-time data to evaluate a transformer’s condition. Remote monitoring securely connects transformers to a centralised monitoring system in a plant or substation control room via standardised wired, wireless, or cellular communication. In addition, connection to Hitachi ABB Power Grids’ scalable Asset Performance Management (APM) software provides actionable insights to minimise the risk of unplanned outages and prioritise investment decisions – whether related to one transformer or an entire enterprise.

Combining the new TXpert Remote Services with long-term service agreements provides cost-effective access to domain knowledge and expertise and keeps transformers operating at their highest levels of performance. Continuous visibility into a transformer’s condition allows customers to effectively schedule required maintenance and avoid unnecessary disruption in operations due to unexpected downtime, saving time and money while minimising the need to send service technicians to sites.
