Heisco JV lands $562m Kuwait distillation plant upgrade contract

Heavy Engineering Industries & Shipbuilding Company (Heisco) has announced that its joint venture with Japanese group IHI Corporation has secured a contract worth KD173.2 million ($562 million) for upgrading steam boilers and thermal units at Doha West distillation station project in Kuwait.
Heisco is a major engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracting company based in Kuwait with a diversified range of business in oil and gas.
The project was awarded by Kuwait's Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, said Heisco in its filing to Boursa Kuwait.
The scope of work includes development and upgrade of steam boilers, thermal units control system and auxiliary system at Doha West distillation station project.
This comes close on the heels of its $298.3 million contract win from Kuwait's Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, for rehabilitation of the Sabiya power plant.
The Heisco group along with its consortium partner Mitsubishi Power Limited had submitted the lowest bid of $445.5 million.
The project scope includes modernisation of steam turbines and electric generators for 8 steam units at the Sabiya Power Plant having plant capacity of 2400MW.-TradeArabia News Service
