The GCC’s first International Domain Industry Conference is set to begin at the Hotel Radisson Blu in Dubai on April 23.

The two-day event is meant to introduce the Gulf region to the fast expanding domain market, which brings in revenues of over $2.7 billion annually.

Organised by YUP2 Events in association with the World Domain Owners Association, Domainers Meet 2016 offers a candid view inside this scarcely tapped into market within the region, exploring one of the most thriving industries within the online market.

The event will provide opportunities to business owners, employees, prospective entrepreneurs, business personalities and industry aspirants alike, to grasp a more comprehensive understanding of domains and learn how to utilize trade secrets to further leverage their own success.

From 1985, when the first domain name symbolic.com was registered, till 2010, over 185 million domain names have been registered, opening the market to an entirely new industry that has helped shape and grow the world’s most successful corporations.

Apart from domain registration and aftermarket, the industry comprises of various other fields like domain name loan, domain name leasing, domain name rental, domain name financing, domain consultant, e-brand development, domain name branding, virtual real estate, and virtual asset appraisal.

By the end of 2009 domain registration within the UAE rose by 30 per cent and by 2015 over 175,000 domain names were registered, said an event statement.
