Bahrain’s BIC migrates its core business, financial systems to Microsoft Cloud
Manama, Bahrain, June 17, 2021
Microsoft has announced that Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), the home of motorsports in the Middle East, has successfully migrated its core business and financial systems to the Microsoft Cloud.
Bahrain International Circuit became the first motor-racing venue in the Middle East to host the Formula 1 World Championship back in 2004 and continues to host top tier motor racing and other events throughout the year. In addition to its celebrated F1 race, BIC hosts around 400 events every year, including international, regional, and local racing, corporate events, conferences and car launches.
In collaboration with Microsoft’s systems integration partner Almoayyed Computers Middle East (ACME), BIC migrated key business functions such as financials, supply chain, and procurement to Microsoft’s cloud-based Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, while the HR, and payroll models are in progress as well, Microsoft said in a statement.
The implementation, described by BIC stakeholders as a seamless and smooth migration resulting in near zero down times, involved total data migration and configuration to Bahraini localisation.
The solution was designed and deployed in line with the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA) of Bahrain’s Cloud-First Policy, in which the kingdom’s leadership calls for the modernisation of ICT through cloud-computing services to reduce costs, increase security and productivity, and develop excellent citizen services.
“We were able to achieve enhanced productivity from an always-on solution that lived in the cloud,” said Sanjeewa Karunatilake, Finance Director, Bahrain International Circuit.
“The Dynamics 365 cloud platform helped deliver a twin boost to both team performance and productivity through real time data analysis and reporting capabilities supercharged by advanced visualisation tools offered by Microsoft PowerBI technology. We also make significant costs savings because of less complexity in management and maintenance, along with faster turnarounds and upgrades,” he added.
Microsoft partner ACME supported BIC in its implementation of Dynamics 365.
“We are proud to be associated with the Home of Motorsport in the Middle East and to support BIC’s vision to be a regional leader in digital transformation,” said SM Hussaini, CEO of Almoayyed Computers Middle East. “We worked very closely with BIC stakeholders to deliver on their proposed timeline; and senior management, line of business, and IT teams were amazingly helpful to us on the journey to deliver a unique, home-grown Middle East HR and payroll solution that is expected to go live soon,” he added.
“Digital transformation is key component towards achieving sustainable business and services.” said Sheikh Saif Hilal Al Hosni, Country Manager, Microsoft Bahrain & Oman. “In line with the aspirations of Bahrain Vision 2030 and the iGA’s Cloud-First Policy, BIC can now look forward to enhanced agility, greater security, high availability and lower costs across its core business functions,” he added.—TradeArabia News Service
