Siemon joins UNGC to advance sustainability goals

DUBAI, August 16, 2023

Siemon, a leading provider of high-performance network infrastructure solutions, has joined the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) initiative, further solidifying its commitment to responsible business practices.

The UNGC, the world's largest corporate sustainability initiative, boasts over 15,000 companies and 3,800 non-business signatories spanning 160 countries.

John Siemon, the CTO/COO at Siemon, said: "The UNGC's Ten Principles provide a clear framework for enhancing our positive impact on the world. We are eager to collaborate with other companies and the UN to foster a more sustainable future."

Accepted principles
The UN Global Compact urges companies worldwide to align their strategies and operations with ten universally accepted principles encompassing human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption. As a participant in the UNGC, Siemon will actively report on its progress in implementing these principles.

Siemon has a longstanding history of prioritising CSR and ESG initiatives and is firmly dedicated to upholding its core values. To strengthen its global commitment to building a sustainable future, Siemon pledges to adhere to the following principles through its policies, processes, and actions:

*Reducing carbon footprint, minimising waste, eliminating pollution, and supporting biodiversity.

*Designing, producing, and delivering safe products while promoting knowledge sharing and responsiveness.

*Practising environmental stewardship and responsibility through Siemon Green initiatives.

Energy and material efficiency
Siemon’s manufacturing practices prioritise energy and material efficiency in full compliance with international standard ISO: 14001 Environmental Management Systems. They achieve this through process efficiency, lean manufacturing, and sustainable product design.

Siemon products are specifically engineered to reduce material usage and can be disassembled for material recovery. Additionally, packaging is thoughtfully designed to minimise materials and promote recyclability. Customers have the option to return end-of-life products and packaging to Siemon for recycling.

Transport and logistics are streamlined through regional distribution points and collaboration with authorised distribution partners. Siemon actively encourages energy-efficient modes of transportation through consolidated container deliveries by sea or rail and promotes fuel efficiency and incentivises the use of hybrid and electric vehicles by our employees.

Siemon said: "We believe that responsible business practices built on accountability and transparency are essential for building a better future. Through our business, we are committed to making a positive impact on the world, and we are confident that our participation in the UNGC in addition to the RBA Code of Conduct and Science Based Target initiative will help us achieve this goal."-- TradeArabia News Service
