ABU DHABI, September 6, 2024
Faisal Al Bannai, Secretary General of the Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC), has been named one of the 100 most influential people in artificial intelligence (AI) by TIME magazine, joining the likes of Google’s Sundar Pichai.
The annual TIME100 AI list highlights the most influential individuals in AI and celebrates innovators and visionaries shaping the future of the technology across various sectors.
This recognition goes beyond a personal milestone – it reflects the UAE’s commitment to using AI as a force for global good. Under Al Bannai’s leadership, the ATRC has driven transformative advancements in AI, particularly through the development of the Falcon LLM series by the Technology Innovation Institute (TII), ATRC’s applied research arm. Falcon, an open-source series of AI models, is designed to democratise access to AI technology, fostering global equity and ensuring its benefits are accessible to all.
Forward-thinking vision
Al Bannai has also been instrumental in launching AI71, a company that delivers AI-driven solutions across multiple domains, including the medical, education, and legal sectors. These initiatives reflect the UAE’s forward-thinking vision of a future where advanced technologies are both innovative and inclusive, benefiting all levels of society.
As Al Bannai continues to guide the ATRC in reshaping the global AI landscape, this honour stands as a testament to the UAE’s strategic vision and its ongoing journey toward innovation and progress.-TradeArabia News Service
