Bahrain Food Festival sees 35% surge in turnout

The eighth edition of the Bahrain Food Festival 2024 (February 8-27) held at Marassi Al Bahrain witnessed a record turnout of 227,000 over the 20 days, a 35% surge compared to last year’s 168,000 visitors, a report said.
Organised by Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, 121 hospitality establishments, restaurants, cafes, and Bahraini productive families participated in the festival that provided a taste of Bahrain and the Arab region to many visitors and tourists from the GCC countries and around the world, Bahrain News Agency, BNA, said.
As part of the festival's attractions, a cooking challenge involving was hosted where 16 participants took part in 14 rounds before a panel of a three-judge panel consisting of professional chefs and food bloggers.
Visitors were allowed to explore a multitude of Gulf, Arab, and international flavours and traditional Bahraini cuisine through numerous stalls and food trucks scattered across Marassi Al Bahrain.
The event featured artistic and musical performances, acts by folk arts groups, roving artistic groups, and various live cooking shows presented by a group of senior chefs from Bahrain.
Sarah Buhijji, CEO of Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, said: "We commend Team Bahrain's relentless efforts in organising such a groundbreaking event. This overwhelming response has led us to extend the festival for an additional three days, allowing everyone interested to partake in its distinguished events.”
