Bahrain celebrates 52nd National Day with patriotic fervour

MANAMA, December 16, 2023

Bahrain is marking its 52nd National Day today with patriotic celebrations across the country with the streets, landmarks, ministries and malls lit up in the red and white colours of the Bahraini flag.

The day marks the establishment of the modern Bahraini state as an Arab and Muslim country founded by Ahmed Al Fateh in 1783, the anniversary of its full membership in the UN, and the anniversary of His Majesty King Hamad’s accession to the throne.

Streets, landmarks, ministries and malls have been lit up in the red and white colours of the Bahraini flag.

His Majesty and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, received cables of congratulations from leaders of Arab and Islamic countries.

His Majesty and HRH Prince Salman exchanged greetings with each other as well as with Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of the King and Supreme Council for Women president.

HRH Prince Salman, in his cable to the King, expressed pride in Bahrain’s landmark achievements under the comprehensive development process thanks to the King’s visions, and the efforts of loyal Bahrainis, who always give top priority to the national interests.

He also reiterated allegiance and loyalty to the King, pledging to continue dedicated work to serve the nation, drawing inspiration from His Majesty’s enlightened visions and sound approach aimed at achieving the best for the nation and the citizens.

The King sent a cable of thanks to HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister in reply to his congratulations.

He expressed pride in HRH Prince Salman’s efforts and honourable achievements that meet the aspirations of the Bahraini people for a better life. The King also paid homage to the fallen servicemen, recalling the sacrifices they had made while defending their nation and its people.

To mark the occasion, Bahrain Post at the Transportation and Telecommunication Ministry, in co-ordination with Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, has issued a set of four commemorative stamps that shed light on the kingdom’s heritage. The BD2 stamps showcase the renowned Bahraini pearls.

Thousands of expatriates living in the kingdom too joined in the celebrations, coming together at the National Stadium Car Park in Riffa last night in a show of unity to mark National Day.

More than 100 social societies, clubs and associations showcased their activities and programmes while more than 75 productive families were on hand to offer traditional food and handicrafts.

Expat clubs and schools also staged musical performances, dances and songs in love of Bahrain at the massive event, organised by ‘This is Bahrain’, under His Majesty King Hamad’s patronage yesterday.

Popular singers Karar Mohammed, Bo 3ateeej and Khalid Bosakhar enthralled audiences in a musical concert.

Social Development Minister Osama Al Asfoor attended the celebration which also featured a lot of fun activities and programmes for children.

"We want to thank His Majesty King Hamad for granting his royal patronage over the years for our national day celebrations," said This is Bahrain president Betsy Mathieson.

"Bahrain is a great example of communities living in peace and harmony, sharing a spirit of mutual respect and love," she stated. "Here in Bahrain, we are one family and expatriates see the country as their home," she added.
