Bahrain motorists break fast on road
Manama, July 2, 2014
Several motorists were forced to break their fast on the road yesterday (July 1) after a minibus overturned in Sehla, Bahrain causing major tailbacks.
The driver reportedly lost control of his vehicle, overturned and crashed into the central reservation, blocking the road opposite Al Abraj restaurant at around 4pm, said sources.
Motorists were stuck behind the wheels for more than two hours on the busy road, which already had several roadblocks because of ongoing road work, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.
Police were at the scene to ease traffic movement and no injuries were reported.
"I was going back home after work when I saw this accident," said a Bahraini motorist.
"It was around 4.45pm and the road was busy because of the road work going on for the last two months.
"The minibus overturned near traffic lights opposite Al Abraj restaurant and we were stuck for almost two hours.
"I didn't reach home on time and missed my Iftar.
"I had a water bottle, thank God, so I broke my fast in the car."
Meanwhile, a driver escaped with minor injuries when two cars collided in another accident yesterday.
It happened near Alba roundabout at around 3pm when one of the drivers reportedly lost control of his car and crashed into the vehicle in front of it. - TradeArabia News Service
