Suitcase murder victim in Bahrain identified
Manama, August 8, 2014
A Bangladeshi who was allegedly killed over BD50 ($131.8) of unpaid rent before being stuffed into a suitcase and dumped on a construction site has been identified.
The badly decomposed body of Haris Kanu Miah was found buried under cement and rocks at the under-construction Al Louzy housing project in Hamad Town on Sunday (August 3), said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.
Two men, fellow Bangladeshis, were arrested in connection with the death on Tuesday and have subsequently been charged with murder by the Public Prosecution.
"The deceased had a dispute with his roommate, who confessed to killing him after he failed to pay BD50," sources told the GDN.
"The two suspects told prosecutors that Miah had been sharing a room with them for three months and owed them the money."
Miah was reported missing on June 16 and an investigation was launched into his disappearance which led to the arrests, the Interior Ministry said in a statement. - TradeArabia News Service
