Illegal sheesha cafés clamp urged in Bahrain

MANAMA, January 4, 2016

Unlicensed sheesha cafés continue to operate across Bahrain because government ministries lack the power to close them permanently, according to a top anti-smoking official. As many as 74 of the unlicensed cafés are known to be in operation, despite inspectors’ best efforts to shut them down, Health Ministry public health directorate anti-smoking committee vice-president Mariam Janahi told the Southern Municipal Council at its latest weekly meeting, reported the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.
