Several countries have condemned the terrorist attack that targeted Abha International Airport in Saudi Arabia by Iran-backed Houthi militias, resulting in the death of one person and injuries to seven civilians.

 

The person killed has been identified as a Syrian resident.

 

Abha is about 200 km north of the Saudi-Yemen border and the airport serves both domestic and regional routes.

 

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain strongly condemned the attack and expressed condolences to the family of the victim, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

 

The Ministry reiterated Bahrain's solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia against attempts targeting its security and stability. 

 

The UAE's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC), condemning the attack, said it flies in the face of all international laws and conventions.

 

"The UAE strongly condemns this terrorist act and labels it as a new evidence of the Iranian-backed Houthi militias' hostile and terrorist tendencies to undermine security and stability in the region."

 

"The security of the UAE and of the kingdom is indivisible," it noted, adding, "any threat or danger to Saudi Arabia's security is considered a threat to UAE's security and stability."

 

Egypt, Jordan, Afghanistan, Djibouti have alos condemned the attack.

 

The Board of Directors of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has also strongly condemned the targeting of Abha International Airport. It expressed solidarity with Saudi Arabia, describing the attack as a blatant violation of international laws and an attack on the civil aviation infrastructure.
