The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia has announced that Eid Al-Adha, the 10th day of the month of Zulhijja, will be on July 31.

 

It said Tuesday (July 21) is the last day of the month of Zulquaeda and Wednesday (July 22) will be the first day of the month of Zulhijja.

 

In a statement, the Supreme Court said an ad hoc committee, assigned to monitor the starts of new lunar months, held a meeting yesterday evening waiting to receive reports from regional courts and moon sight-seeing committees but it was revealed that nobody has witnessed the moon of Zulhijja, a Saudi Press Agency repport said.

 

It said the gathering of pilgrims on the Mount of Arafat, the peak of the Haj ritual, will be on July 30, the ninth day of the month of Zulhijja, followed on the next day (July 31) by Eid Al-Adha.

 

Meanwhile, another report said Saudi Arabia has announced Eid Al Adha holidays for the public and private sector employees.

 

The public sector will have a two-week holiday to mark Eid Al Adha, starting from July 26. Work will resume on August 9.

 

Private institutions and companies will remain closed for four days from July 30. Work will resume on August 3.
