US MEPI grant AIESEC for NGO capacity building
MANAMA, February 15, 2021
AIESEC in Bahrain has been awarded a grant to conduct a capacity building project for 8 NGOs in Bahrain.
The award under the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) Grant from the US Embassy supports the projects undertaken by AIESEC in October 2020.
The NGOs taking part in the programme are: Rakaez Social Society, AlMutalaq Women Society, Bahrain Alwani Society, Bahrain Autistics Society, Fares AlFursan Center, Bahrain Food Bank, Bahrain Association of Parents and Friends of Disabled.
“The NGOs were selected on their needs and concentrated on those groups that lacked the basic infrastructure in terms of tracking funds, HR capacity, reporting systems of their activities, and impact measurement,” says Ahmed Shabbir, AIESEC in Bahrain’s Managing Director.
AIESEC is a global youth-run organisation with the main focus on youth leadership development. It has been in operation in Bahrain since 2006, and have managed and executed multiple development conferences, sessions and seminars covering various topics related to the United Nations Sustainable development goals (SDGs).
“Applying for the MEPI program aligns entirely with what we believe to be part of our civic and social responsibility. The MEPI program responds to needs and emerging opportunities for citizens and organisations that target two core objectives: participatory governance, economic opportunity,” added Shabbir.
“Since receiving the grant we have held multiple workshops delivered by AIESEC team leaders who’ve completed two training courses run by professionals. The training sessions covered the topics of project management, design thinking, negotiations, communication, data management, reportability, crisis management, analysis skills, time management, tools and trackers usage, and presentation skills.” – TradeArabia News Service
