A helicopter carrying UAE-based Lulu Group Chairman M A Yusuff Ali and six others force-landed in the southern Indian state of Kerala, local reports said. Yussuff Ali and others in the helicopter suffered minor injuries and are undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kochi.

 

The private helicopter belonging to the group belly-landed in a swamp at Panagad on the outskirts of Kochi.

 

According to local reports, the chopper suddenly descended from the sky. The pilot got out first and opened the door for the passengers. Locals said there was strong wind and heavy rain in the area during the time of accident, a Khaleej Times report said.

 

Yusuff Ali was recently named as the second richest UAE residents with $4.8 billion assets by Forbes magazine.

 

He presides over the LuLu Group International with a revenue of $7.4 billion and around 200 stores in the Gulf and elsewhere.
