World’s largest Lego F1 car to be built in Saudi for charity
JEDDAH, September 12, 2021
The Saudi Automobile & Motorcycle Federation (SAMF) – promoter of the 2021 Formula 1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix – has announced its plan to assemble the world’s largest Lego brick build of a Formula 1 car in aid of Ehsan - Saudi Arabia’s focal national charity.
Upon completion, the attempt will see Guinness World Records certify the SAMF as an official Record Holder.
To celebrate F1 coming to Jeddah from December 3–5, SAMF announced its intention to launch this record-breaking fundraising event for Ehsan, Saudi Arabia’s National Platform for Charitable Work.
Ehsan was founded in April 2020 to support charitable efforts in Saudi Arabia across a variety of areas including social, educational, healthcare, relief, environmental, economic and technical care.
The assembly process for the brick build will take place at Red See Mall in Jeddah. It will take approximately one week to construct, starting on September 15 with the first brick to be placed by advisor to the governor of Makkah Region and acting Governor of Jeddah Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Jalawi and SAMF Chairman Prince Khalid bin Sultan Al-Abdullah Al-Faisal.
Prince Khalid said: “It is with great pleasure that I announce our plan to build the largest Lego brick build of a Formula 1 car the world has ever seen. The 2021 F1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix is all about breaking records and we are therefore delighted to have another record breaker on our hands, with the Jeddah Corniche Circuit also set to become the longest and fastest street circuit in the world!
"This project is all about giving back to our community and reflects our kingdom’s commitment to improving the lives of our citizens. I could not be prouder to be a part of building a better future for our nation’s youth and I am very excited to see the outcome of this record-breaking activity.”
The last brick will be placed on September 23, Saudi Arabia’s National Day, when Guinness World Records representatives will be on hand via livestream to record and certify the Lego brick build of the F1 car as the world’s largest.
The Saudi Grand Prix is offering the people of the Kingdom the chance to participate in the world record attempt … brick by brick!
Formula 1 fans will be able to become a part of this record-breaking attempt by visiting saudiarabiangp.com/en/lego where they can register to ‘purchase’ a brick that will be part of the final assembled Lego brick build of an F1 car, with each donation going to Ehsan. The full construction is expected to be made up of 500,000 bricks.
After registering, fans can attend the world record activation and observe the construction of the world’s largest Lego brick build of a Formula 1 car by Lego-certified professionals. Participant names will be displayed on a digital screen.-TradeArabia News Service
