LMRA chief highlights new labour market reforms

Bahrain's Labor Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) CEO Nouf Abdulrahman Jamsheer met with a number of ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic missions in the kingdom and highlighted the new labour market reform package and legislations.
 
Jamsheer affirmed the kingdom’s appreciation of the great role of expatriate communities in the development and growth of Bahrain’s economy, said a Bahrain News Agency report.
 
The ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic missions were from Jordan, Egypt, Morocco, Turkey, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, the Philippines, Indonesia, Ethiopia, Thailand, and Nepal.
 
The CEO stressed the LMRA's commitment to develop a work environment that contributes to enhancing the investment attractiveness of the kingdom while upholding the rights of both employers and employees.
 
She added that replacing the flexi visa and linking professional work licences with qualifications are within the follow-up on the developments and needs of the labour market, to combat irregular employment and illegal practices.
 
Jamsheer emphasised the importance of partnership and coordination between the authority and the embassies and diplomatic missions, as well as the need to develop relations and strengthen joint action, to educate expatriate workers about their rights and duties and inform them about the latest developments in the labour market.
 
For their part, the ambassadors and consuls hailed the meeting as an opportunity to enhance communication and coordination with the LMRA.
 
They stressed that cooperation in accordance with the concepts of partnership with the LMRA works towards the interests of all parties to achieve common goals, said BNA.
