Bahrain joins GCC to celebrate Eid Al-Fitr tomorrow

Bahrain will be joining its neighbouring GCC countries to celebrate Eid Al Fitr tomorrow (April 21) after Saudi Arabia's Supreme Court confirmed the sighting of the Shawwal crescent in the kingdom, said media reports..
The Shawwal crescent was spotted at Tamir on Thursday, meaning the first day of Eid Al-Fitr will be on Friday (April 21), reported Arab News.
Bahrain's Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA) had earlier announced that the moon-sighting panel will convene on Thursday evening at the SCIA headquarters to receive news and testimonies about the birth of the new crescent of the month of Shawwal for the year 1444 Hijri, signaling the advent of Eid Al Fitr, reported BNA.
The SCIA urged the public who sights the new Shawwal crescent to contact the moon-sighting panel.
Following the Eid confirmation, the Council extended its greeting to the Kingdom and its people and wished further security, progress and prosperity, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
The UAE and Qatar too announced that the first day of Eid will fall on Friday.
Eid Al-Fitr celebrations follow the end of Ramadan which lasts 29 or 30 days based on when the crescent moon is sighted.
