Bahrain joins GCC in Eid celebrations

Bahrain today (June 28) joined its neighbouring GCC countries to celebrate Eid Al Adha after Saudi Arabia's Supreme Court confirmed the sighting of the Shawwal crescent last night in the kingdom, said media reports.
His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa performed Eid Al-Adha prayers at Al Sakhir Palace Mosque along with His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, HM the King’s sons, senior members of the Royal Family, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, ministers, senior officers from the Bahrain Defence Force, Interior Ministry and National Guard, in addition to other worshippers also performed the prayers marking the Feast of the Sacrifice, reported BNA.
Chairman of the Sunni Endowments Council Dr Shaikh Rashid bin Mohammed Al Hajiri, delivered a sermon in which he highlighted the noble values embedded in Eid Al-Adha and stressed the tolerant teachings of Islam, including compassion and solidarity.
Bahrain’s leadership later exchanged greetings with leaders of GCC, Arab and Islamic nations.
His Majesty King Hamad and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, also exchanged Eid greetings, wishing each other health and happiness and Bahrain further progress and prosperity.
In a tweet, HRH Prince Salman congratulated citizens and residents on the occasion, wishing prosperity, wellness and safety for everyone.
The leaders were greeted on the occasion by Ruling Family members, ministers, chairmen of parliament and the Shura Council, senior officials and dignitaries.
Bright lights and congratulatory phrases were placed across monuments and key areas in Bahrain.
Campaigns were also carried out to clean mosques and grand mosques to ensure the comfort of worshippers for Eid Prayers.
