The 128th International Airlines Technical Pool (IATP) conference 2023 is underway (October 7-11) in Istanbul. Hosted by Turkish Technic, one of the world's largest aircraft maintenance-repair (MRO) companies, the conference is focusing on topics aimed at reducing technical-related flight costs in flight operations.

The event is witnessing participation of 198 companies and 700 aviation experts from six continents.

The opening speech of the event, attended by 125 airlines, 41 technical maintenance, and 32 aircraft supply companies, was delivered by Prof Dr Ahmet Bolat, Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee of Turkish Technic.

He said: "We are delighted to host this valuable gathering of aviation professionals here in Istanbul. The conference shares the goal of discussing the challenges facing the global aviation industry and finding collective solutions to these issues. It holds significant importance in fostering innovative ideas and shaping the future of the sector.

“Furthermore, it serves as a crucial platform for strengthening collaborations and developing joint projects. We believe that this important event, combined with Istanbul's rich historical and cultural heritage, will provide participants with an unforgettable experience."

Participants had the opportunity to explore the natural and historical beauty of Istanbul through organised tours, which contributed to promoting Turkiye as a tourism destination. They visited historical sites such as the Sultanahmet and Hagia Sophia Mosques, as well as the Basilica Cistern.
