New ministers named in UAE cabinet reshuffle
ABU DHABI, January 7, 2024
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has announced a federal cabinet reshuffle that include new ministers and top officials.
This follows his consultations with His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, said a Wam news agency report.
Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid has been appointed as Deputy Prime Minister for Financial and Economic Affairs.
Sultan Al Neyadi, a UAE astronaut, has been named Minister of State for Youth in the UAE.
Dr Amna bint Abdullah Al-Dahak Al-Shamsi has been named as the Minister of the Environment. Maryam Hareb Al Muhairi has been appointed Head of the Office of International Affairs in the Presidential Office, at the end of her term in the Ministry of Environment.
Mohammed bin Mubarak Fadel Al Mazrouei has been appointed Minister of State for Defense Affairs.
Shamma Al Mazrui has been named Minister of Community Development; Salem bin Khalid Al Qassimi is the new Minister of Culture and Youth, while Hessa Buhumaid and Noura Al Kaabi will now serve as Ministers of State.
Maryam Al Hammadi, Secretary-General of the UAE Cabinet, has alos been named a Minister of State; Omar bin Sultan Al Olama has been appointed Director-General of the Prime Minister's Office in addition to his current duties as Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence. Abdullah Nasser Lootah has been named Chairman of the Competitiveness Council and in charge of the government knowledge exchange files.
