ME Dubai, the architectural haven nestled in Business Bay’s Opus by Omniyat building, has unveiled a ‘cultural connections’ exhibition in partnership with acclaimed fashion artist, Alena Lavdovskaya, to mark the International Women’s Day and Women’s Month.

The expo will highlight the region’s rich art ecosystem with Alena’s multifaceted creative works, that will be available throughout the month of March until April 15 at ME Dubai’s designated gallery located on the third floor atrium.

Drawing inspiration from her personal experiences as a fashion illustrator, the exhibition, titled “Fashion Art: From Documentary to Abstract”, sees Lavdovskaya embark on a creative journey to redefine and discover a new artistic language of expression.

The demonstration is divided into distinct phases, each reflecting a different facet of Lavdovskaya’s creative exploration.

The initial phase showcases the raw energy and immediacy of the fashion world, with expressive illustrations that capture the latest fashion week trends on the runways of major couture cities such as New York, Milano and Paris.

Further exploring this dynamic interplay between movement and artistry, Alena aspires to reveal the essence of each moment and emotion behind the glamour of the runway through quick strokes and vivid compositions.

A departure from her staple and well-known works on A3 and glossy magazine formats, she transitions into more introspective territory, and brings to the walls of ME Dubai’s larger-scale artworks on paper.

Diving deeper and further into the abstract, her silhouette art is dedicated to the convergence of dancing with fashion.

The centrepiece of the exhibition is a “backstage wall”, a dedication to the art of portraiture. Reminiscent of her past works, the wall will be adorned with a neon sign that reads “fashion”.

Serving as a symbolic representation of the constant negotiation between the commercial demands of the fashion industry and her commitment to unrestrained, Lavdovskaya will display a mixture of portraits from her friends, her muses and celebrities.

Through illustrations that transcend the conventional boundaries of fashion, Lavdovskaya's exhibition at ME Dubai serves as a tribute to the spirit and creativity of women worldwide, embodying the essence of innovation, empowerment, and self-discovery, a statement said.- TradeArabia News Service
