Valvitalia wins first EU hydrogen-ready valves supply contract
ROME, October 11, 2021
Valvitalia, an international group active in the production of equipment for energy, marine and civil industries, has secured a contract from top energy infrastructure company Snam for its debut supply in Europe of 'hydrogen-ready valves' for gas transport networks.
These valves will be manufactured in compliance with Snam's technical specifications, with design, functionality and testing parameters in line with the international standard ASME B31.12 for the transport of hydrogen in pipelines, said a statement from Valvitalia.
For this reason, each valve will be subject to an additional high-pressure test with helium instead of air in order to verify its internal and external tightness with a lower density gas, it stated.
On the contract win, CEO Ugo Vinti said: "We are proud to extend our collaboration with Snam Group, an Italian player leading the global market, in an initiative that fits perfectly with the objectives that Valvitalia is pursuing with the implementation of a profound and ambitious transformation plan for the group."
The ability of the Italian group based in Rivanazzano to follow market developments, together with the ability to cultivate over ten-year strategic collaborations with the most important partners, such as Snam, is one of the factors that make possible to anticipate the needs of the sector and promptly offer appropriate solutions, he noted.
"The ball valves for hydrogen transport that are part of this newly signed contract are testimony to this," he added.
