Work nearing completion on key phase of Dewa's H-Station plant

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) has announced that 93% of the work has been completed on the fourth phase of its H-Station power plant located at Al Aweer which is being developed at a total investments of AED1.1 billion ($299 million).
With the completion of this 829MW Phase Four work, the total capacity of the Al Aweer Power Station Complex has risen to 2,825MW.
According to Dewa, the project is being implemented by a consortium comprising Siemens Energy and Elsewedy Power.
The scope of work includes supply, installation, testing and commissioning of three Siemens gas turbines with a total capacity of 829MW.
With the vital testing and commissioning operations under way, the project is likely to be fully operational in Q1 next year.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO, said: "This is one of Dewa's key projects to meet the reserve margin criterion set for peak electricity demand in Dubai. It will add to the Dubai utility's current installed power capacity of 14,317 MW."
Nasser Lootah, Executive Vice President of Generation (Power & Water) Division, said the station was equipped with the latest systems and technologies to reduce emissions to the minimum.
The project work, he stated, was progressing as per schedule, while maintaining the highest levels of health, safety, quality, and efficiency.
The project will see the installation of sub devices and equipment from major international companies such as natural gas compressors from Germany's MAN and a natural gas treatment station from Dutch company Petrogas. Other local and regional companies are also contributing to this project.-TradeArabia News Service
