Disney denies Egypt theme park reports
CAIRO, November 23, 2014
The Walt Disney Company has denied it has plans to open a theme park in Egypt, a day after an Egyptian government official stated talks were under way to build the Middle East's first Disney World park, a report said.
"It would be similar to Disney France," Egypt’s Minister of Investment Ashraf Salman was quoted by state-run news agency Mena, according to an Ahram Online report.
"While Egypt is an attractive market, we have no plans for the region at this time," a Disney spokesperson was quoted in the report.
"At Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, we continually look for ways to grow our business and as part of that process we have conversations with many different entities," the Disney spokesperson said.
