Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) hosted over 300 members of the Mice travel industry on a ‘Discovery Day’ in a bid to attract more business events and conferences to the capital.

Organised by the Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau, the ‘Discovery Day’ formed the mainstay of the opening day activities of ibtm arabia, the leading international event for the Arabian meetings, incentives, conferences and events industry which is now in its 10th year.
 
A networking event aimed at introducing the attendees to the emirate’s business events landscape, approximately 300 hosted buyers and international exhibitors were given an exclusive showcase of Abu Dhabi's Mice products.

With an increase in the total number of buyers attending—corporate in particular—and a substantial increase in the number of hosted buyers from the Middle East, ibtm arabia 2016 has seen an influx of hospitality industry experts seeking to develop business to Abu Dhabi and the ‘Discovery Day’ aims to provide a platform for Abu Dhabi businesses to showcase their capabilities.

Mubarak Al Shamisi, director, Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau, said: “The Discovery Day presented us with a prime platform to showcase our emirate’s depth, breadth and diversity of business events and Mice product prospects to our international hosted buyers. It also provided ample opportunity for our guests to take in what our capital has to offer through sightseeing, education and networking, aimed at leveraging relationships with local suppliers or hosting a future event in the Gulf region.”

TCA Abu Dhabi delivered a tour of Mice facilities of the emirate’s iconic sights including the Yas Marina Circuit, followed by an entertaining, networking opportunity and luncheon at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, a visit to Saadiyat Island and tour of the magnificent Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. Delegates were later welcomed to Emirates Palace for a traditional Arabic reception celebrating ibtm arabia’s 10th anniversary.
