Hyatt among top five best workplaces in the UAE
DUBAI, May 9, 2018
Hyatt has been officially recognised as one of the ‘Best 25 Workplaces in the UAE’ for 2017-2018 by Great Place to Work, a global research, training and consultancy firm that identifies the best workplaces in over 50 countries worldwide.
Hyatt received its highest recognition to date in the region, ranking in at No.5 this year, the only hotel group in the top five and climbing seven places from No.12 in last year’s list.
Rankings are based on the confidential feedback of employees and an audit of management policies and practices. Each entry is judged according to performance in eight key areas: Leadership, wellbeing, giving something back, personal growth, fair deal and how members of staff feel towards their manager, company and team.
The official list was announced during an awards ceremony on April 25 at Jumeirah Zabeel Saray in Dubai. Commenting on the prestigious recognition, Ramjan Bhugeloo – regional vice president of Human Resources at Hyatt International Middle East and South West Asia, said: “Our deep rooted core values and aim to care for our colleagues, allows us to foster an environment for trust, growth and development.”
To further connect colleagues to Hyatt’s focus on developing unmatched experiences and fostering unrivalled personal connections with our guests, the concept of mindfulness has recently been launched at Hyatt. Yves Givel, the EAME/SWA region’s head of Human Resources, is a mindfulness practitioner himself and has been training for the past year to become a certified instructor of the ‘Search Inside Yourself’ programme, a mindful leadership programme developed by Google in recent years. The program has been run in a number of locations within the region including its implementation by a number of leaders across Hyatt’s Dubai hotels.
Introducing the concept of mindfulness to the hotels has the additional benefit of developing emotional intelligence and mindful leadership skills, as well as improving overall well-being, collaboration, teamwork and employee satisfaction.
Hyatt offers employees benefits and perks designed to allow employees to be their best, including:
• Travel perks including complimentary and discounted stays at Hyatt hotels around the world
• A global family assistance policy that provides employees with paid time off following the birth or adoption of a child as well as financial assistance for adoption
• Access to skills training and world-class education opportunities through Saba Cloud
• A diverse workplace, including many diversity business resource groups, that results in an environment where everyone can be their genuine selves at work
• Work-life benefits including exercise initiatives, on-site rest and relaxation and even meditation lounges, and flexible schedules
• Free or subsidised meals to hotel employees during work hours
• Piloting of a global wellbeing strategy, which now also includes mindfulness practices
