Bahrain to Chios - a road trip to promote tourism, culture
MANAMA, July 23, 2018
A four-member group of travel enthusiasts from Bahrain will undertake a road trip to the Greek island of Chios with the aim of promoting Bahrain's culture, history and tourism.
The six-week trip, dubbed as "From Island of Pearls to the Island of Mastic" is organised by 101 Guides, led by director and publisher Ali Mushaima.
The group is expected to start the journey next week and it can be followed on www.friendshiparabia.com.
The road trip will cover over 10,000 km and pass through Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Turkey
and Greece.
Chios is the fifth largest of the Greek islands, situated in the Aegean Sea, 7 km off the Anatolian coast. Chios is notable for its exports of mastic gum and its nickname is the Mastic Island.
"The trip is aimed at creating awareness about Bahrain and its cultural traditions and touristic facilities," said Mushaima. "Promoting Bahrain is, has been and will always be close to our hearts and this tour aims to do the same," he said.
The group had earlier conducted such trips - from Bahrain to Dublin in 2004, Bahrain to Britain in 2008, and Bahrain to Thassos, Greece in 2010.
The 101 Guides, which publishes the '101 Things to Do in Bahrain' guide and other publications, has also published a similar guide on Chios island.
The group is working with the Bahrain Historical and Archeological Society for the trip, which is supported by Zayani Motors and Bahrain Holidays. - TradeArabia News Service
