No need for passport stamps when exiting Singapore
SINGAPORE, April 18, 2019
Starting from April 22, foreign travellers will no longer need to get their passports stamped when they depart Singapore.
The Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) announced on April 17 that it will stop issuing departure immigration endorsements, which include stamps of departure dates, on travel documents.
According to the authority, the decision will help facilitate more “efficient departure immigration clearance”.
Previously, all foreigners departing Singapore would have their passports stamped with the date of their departure by the immigration officer at the manned counters.
The ICA said that since September 2016, foreign travellers whose fingerprints have been enrolled via the BioScreen system upon their arrival into Singapore are eligible to use automated lanes when they leave Singapore.
"They do not receive departure immigration endorsements when they use the automated lanes," added the authority.
The ICA said it will inform other foreign authorities on the cessation of the departure immigration endorsement.
