Etihad celebrates fifth anniversary of Al Ain business centre
ABU DHABI, October 15, 2019
Etihad Aviation Group today celebrated the fifth anniversary of its Global Business Service Solutions (GBSS) during an event organised to commend its achievements.
GBSS is a dedicated Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) company located in Al Ain, with the objective of creating long-term economic value for Al Ain and the emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The centre was established in 2014 and was originally created to provide audit and revenue accounting services to Etihad.
Today, it is a BPO company that follows industry best practice in providing a range of back office support functions to Etihad Aviation Group and other customers by offering finance and auditing services, as well as supporting many other areas in the business, such as airport and catering services.
Tony Douglas, group chief executive officer, Etihad Aviation Group, said: “Today, we mark five years of providing essential services to our business, in addition to celebrating the success of our long-term commitment to Emiratisation and supporting the creation of a knowledge economy in line with the UAE Vision. GBSS is one of many Etihad initiatives that aim to encourage more UAE nationals and women into the aviation sector.
“We are proud of our Emiratisation credentials and achievements. Currently more than 95 per cent of GBSS employees are UAE nationals, highlighting our unique and innovative approach to offering Emiratis opportunities to pursue global professional careers in aviation in Al Ain.”
GBSS also offers a wide range of specialised training and development opportunities in order to develop its workforce. This further supports the company’s active role in the economic diversification of the country.
The GBSS event was attended by employees and featured speeches from Etihad’s Group CEO and executives, recognition of staff achievements and prize giveaways.
Among those who took part in the event were Abdulmohsen Al Sayegh, managing director, GBSS and Andrew Macfarlane, chief financial officer, Etihad Aviation Group. - TradeArabia News Service
