Millennium Place Barsha Heights reveals its executive team

Millennium Place Barsha Heights, the second hotel operating under ‘Millennium Place’ brand by Millennium Hotels and Resorts Middle East and Africa, has revealed its executive team.
General manager Glenn Nobbs is in charge of the overall operations of the 915-key hotel including maintaining owner’s relations and leading the team to achieve the hotel’s business plans. Nobbs has more than 25 years of hospitality experience in hotel operations, management, and marketing spanning smaller boutique hotels, Serviced Apartments, resorts and large international luxury hotels in Sydney, Muscat & Dubai.
Director of rooms, Wael Shawkat is a passionate footballer and dynamic hotelier with 20 years of hospitality experience. His role is to maintain the overall guest satisfaction and front desk operations. An Egyptian national, he joined Millennium in 2014 and this is his third Millennium Property.
Nadia Bellazi, the hotel’s director of housekeeping has 17 years of housekeeping experience behind her. She handles the housekeeping operations of the hotel, ensuring that the team members comply and deliver the highest cleanliness standards that create the guest’s perception of all areas in the hotel, and guest satisfaction by optimum utilisation of resources.
Heading the Human Resources Department is Sunny Mehta, who brings more than 16 years of experience to his position. Mehta has a food and beverage and front office operations background and started his career in hospitality as an F&B associate in India. His role is to keep the talent happy at the “Happy Place”. He joined Millennium in 2015 and this is his third Millennium Property and his third role as well.
With 20 years of experience, Shanu Varughese is the director of revenue. He is spearheading the revenue and reservations functions of the hotel and is in charge of implementing various yield strategies in online channels. He transferred from Millennium’s Bab Al Qasr in Abu Dhabi, and has worked previously across other large scale properties in Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah.
Vishwanath Pothuval joined as director of engineering in the pre-opening stage of the hotel. He has more than 32 years of experience in the hospitality industry and has worked for various five-star international chains. He is responsible for plant and machinery maintenance, fire protection, life and safety of the guests and team and the environmental upkeeping of the hotel. He has various hobbies and interests of which reading tops the list.
Imran Abbasi joined as director of security and will use his 21 years of experience in the security industry to ensure the safety and security of the hotel’s guests, colleagues and visitors. He finds hospitality an exciting industry where every day he meets new individuals and new challenges.
Rajesh Velluva joined Millennium Hotels and Resorts as the financal controller in Millennium Central Downtown and then moved to Millennium Place Barsha Heights as director of finance and business support. He is armed with an MBA in finance and boasts of 20 years of industry experience. Velluva has worked with several companies including Anantara Desert Islands Resort & Spa and Emaar Hospitality Group, M Gallery by Sofitel.
Procurement manager Rahul Punnapully has a great record of negotiation skills and he will apply his 19 years of experience in handling the hotel’s procurement and store operations.
A Bachelor in Information Technology, Mohit Duggar is handling the hotel’s IT including software, hardware and network functions. He has 10 years of experience and was previously working with IHG, Emaar and he is working with Millennium since 2013.
Cluster director of marketing and communications, Amal Oumasse is an experienced hotelier with 18 years of hospitality experience. Graduated from one of the leading French universities, she speaks five foreign languages and worked previously for the government of Dubai and Abu Dhabi. In 2001, she was certified by Dubai Quality Award as a quality auditor in the field of marketing. Oumasse is also an active member of several social causes in the UAE.
Chef Sandeep Kemal joined as executive chef and has 22 years of international experience in hotels pre-openings, task forces and conversions across several countries including UAE, Oman, Bahrain, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Sweden, Kenya and other countries. He worked for leading brands such as Hyatt International and IHG and catered to various celebrities and public figures such as Diego Maradona, Pamela Anderson, Margaret Thatcher and Mother Teresa.
Food and beverage manager, Mohamed Metwally has more than 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry. He worked for many international hotel chains in Egypt, India and UAE. He holds a master degree in hotel management and has organised famous events for various public figures including Prince Charles, The Queen of the Netherlands and many other prestigious names.
Rula Al Teneiji joined as learning and development manager. She is a certified trainer and designer and has long experience in developing and implementing learning strategies and programmes. She loves creative activities, adventures and socialising.
Director of sales and marketing, Rula Khulaif is leading the hotel’s sales and marketing dynamic teams. An experienced hotelier with five hotel openings and experience within international hotel chains and 24 years of hospitality experience, Rula was previously global director of sales with Rotana. She has previously worked for InterContinental Hotel Group, Taj Hotels and Dusit Hotels & Resorts.
