Dubai Airports, in cooperation with the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), recently organised a Youth Circle to discuss ideas that will shape the future of the aviation sector in the country.

The youth circle is one of numerous events organised within the "Designing the Next 50" Project as part of the agenda of "2020: towards the next 50", that was announced by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.

Describing "Designing the Next 50" as a forward-looking, revolutionary project, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and the Group, said it's a clarion call for individuals and organisations to come together to envision and help shape the future of the UAE through creativity and collective effort.

Sheikh Ahmed said: "As part of the sector's contribution to the project, we are working to create avenues for strategic partners, experts from different fields, representatives of key business segments as well as the youth of the country to share their aspirations and ideas for charting the course for the aviation sector for the next five decades."

“The glorious history of Dubai's aviation sector is a testament to the UAE's culture of thinking big and planning for the future. It was with this approach that we began our journey in aviation, and over the past several decades invested billions of dollars to create what has come to be recognised globally as the most advanced infrastructure and a celebrated aviation model.

“Persisting with our forward-thinking approach, we will continue to explore every idea and possibility to improve what we have built, further enhance our facilities and services, and strive to revolutionise the very future of air travel in the years to come,” he added.

Dubai International has retained its position as the world's number one airport for international passenger traffic since 2014 when it welcomed 70.4 million passengers. In the 60 years since opening on September 30, 1960, DXB has served more than 1.115 billion passengers on more than 7.47 million flights that have connected more than 240 destinations in 95 countries around the world.

The project 'Designing the Next 50' aims to unite efforts to achieve innovation and enhance partnerships towards a new phase of development in the UAE.

Numerous events and activities planned nationwide, as part of the project will support national agenda aiming to shape UAE's future and achieve its vision in being the world's best country within the next five decades.

Extensive efforts to prepare for 2071 are directed towards developing all sectors for the post-oil era, building a knowledge-based economy, investing in human capabilities, strengthening the UAE's value system based on tolerance, openness and coexistence, enhancing global competitiveness and driving sustainable development for future generations. – TradeArabia News Service
